Aircraft fuelling is a vital link in the system and upholding the stringent standards required Bahrain Petroleum Company(BAPCO) is responsible for over 60% of the aviation fuelling operations at Bahrain’s Airport through its affiliate the Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company (BAFCO).
BAFCO supplies Jet A-1 grade of aviation fuel which is produced to international specifications by the Bahrain refinery in Sitra and then pumped through a dedicated pipeline to reception tanks in Arad and further onto the planes. BAPCO daily transfers around 13,000 BBls (546,000 USG) of Jet A-1 aviation fuel from Sitra tanks to Arad depot of which the quota distribution at the airport is 60% Bapco, 27% Chevron and 13% Air BP. The number of aircraft fuelled at Bahrain International Airport per month are around 4,772 aircraft (57,264 per year).
Air BP is the specialised aviation services division of British Petroleum(BP), a global energy company and has been supporting the aviation fuel needs in Bahrain through Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company. It has also been a technical services provider for BAFCO for over 2 decades.
